In an era of digital perfection, backing tracks, and auto-tune, there is something real and rebellious about four guys walking onto a stage with nothing but their instruments and a love to perform. For the Central New York-based band All Good, it’s not a gimmick—it’s simply how rock and roll needs to be played to capture that raw 90s spirit.
“No iPads, no backing tracks,” says lead guitarist Bradford Allen. “Just guitars, bass, drums, and great songs.”
All Good came together in 2022, but the members are far from newcomers. The lineup brings together seasoned musicians who have spent decades honing their craft—whether on the local dive bar circuit or in front of massive festival crowds abroad....
The core of the band began with the acoustic duo of Steve Romer and Bradford Allen. Together, they’ve racked up hundreds of performances, opening for national 90s icons like Ed Kowalczyk (Live) and Kevin Griffin (Better than Ezra). Allen himself is a relentless performer, averaging 100 shows a year at venues ranging from the legendary Carnegie Hall to the beloved St. Charles in their backyard of Cortland, NY.
To round out the "All Good" sound, the duo tapped into the deep pool of CNY talent. They recruited bassist Loren Leonard and drummer Nate Horton, both 30-year veterans of the local scene.
Horton brings a level of prestige rarely seen in local outfits; a voting member of the Recording Academy (GRAMMYs), he has performed worldwide, including the massive Wacken Open Air festival in Germany before crowds of 25,000. Leonard, meanwhile, provides the versatile backbone of the band, with a varied resume whose play spans genres from funk to metal, and 80s new wave to folk.
While All Good is widely known for their 90s alternative sets—delivering spot-on covers from bands like Weezer, Stone Temple Pilots, and Gin Blossoms—they aren’t solely a cover band. The group released Slow Demise, an album that earned a 2022 SAMMY Award nomination for Best Rock Album.
“I grew up on the MTV Unplugged era,” Romer explains. “That raw, honest energy is what we try to bring to every set.”
Despite their individual accolades, the members of All Good remain firmly planted in the community. They frequent local venues, not just as performers, but as supporters of fellow musicians and local artisans.
While the band is a fixture in the local scene, they are ready to broaden their reach. After building a loyal following in the region’s bars and breweries, All Good is looking to bring their fine-tuned, authentic performance to larger festival stages and high-profile events across New York. Meanwhile, the band is also trying to carve out time from their performance schedule to write and record a new batch of hard-hitting original material.
